Blackeyed Pea Dip
Southern tradition says to eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day.
This warm, delicious dip is a wonderful way to enjoy them anytime of year.

Ingredients:

2 stalks celery, chopped
1 tsp. black pepper
3/4 cup ketchup
4 chicken boullion cubes
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 large purple onion
2 tbs. Tabasco
1 tbs. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar

3 cans black-eyed peas with jalapenos
1 can tomatoes, pureed
1/2 cup bacon drippings
6 pieces bacon, crumbled

Directions:

Bring first 11 ingredients to a slow simmer.

Add black-eyed peas and tomatoes and cook for 30 minutes.

Blend bacon drippings with 1 tablespoon of flour and add to mixture along with the crumbled bacon.

Serve with Frito's corn chips.
